Magic Mushroom Gummies in Canada: What’s Actually in Them
Magic mushroom gummies are everywhere online. A lot of them don’t contain any magic mushrooms. Here’s how to tell what you’re buying, and what to get instead if you want to know your dose.
Quick answer
- Many “mushroom gummies” contain amanita muscaria or undisclosed blends, not psilocybin.
- Even real psilocybin gummies can’t be checked. You’re trusting the label on the dose.
- For a known dose, use microdose capsules (from $30) or weigh dried mushrooms ($2.07–$2.82/g).
- If you want gummies, make them yourself from dried mushrooms you’ve weighed.
Three Different Things Get Sold as Mushroom Gummies
Psilocybin gummies
These are made with ground psilocybin mushrooms or an extract. They’re the real thing, but the dose is whatever the maker says it is. Mushroom powder settles unevenly in gelatin, so two gummies from the same bag can differ.
Amanita muscaria gummies
These are made from the red-and-white fly agaric mushroom. It’s a completely different mushroom with different active compounds (muscimol and ibotenic acid), not psilocybin, and the effects aren’t comparable. These are often sold with a mushroom cartoon on the pack and no clear label.
“Proprietary blend” gummies
This is the category to avoid. These gummies list a “mushroom blend” without saying what’s in it. In 2024, the Diamond Shruumz brand was recalled in the US after dozens of people were hospitalized. Testing found ingredients that weren’t on the label.
How to Check a Gummy Before You Buy
- It names psilocybin and a dose per gummy. “Mushroom blend” or “functional mushrooms” doesn’t count.
- The dose is in grams of dried mushroom or milligrams of psilocybin. Watch for vague “potency” scales.
- No amanita, muscimol or “fly agaric.” If it’s listed, you’re buying a different mushroom.
- The price makes sense. A gummy that costs less than the dried mushroom it claims to contain probably doesn’t contain it.
What to Buy Instead
SuperFunGuy doesn’t sell magic mushroom gummies. These are the options we carry where you know what’s in each dose:
Microdose capsules

Capsules are pre-measured, just like a gummy is meant to be. The difference is that every capsule holds the same dose. Mycro is $30 (normally $50), and Unicorn Hunter 100mg is $65. There’s no sugar and no taste to mask, and it’s the easiest way to take a small, consistent amount.
Dried mushrooms

Dried mushrooms are the cheapest option per gram, and the only one where you can weigh your own dose. All prices are for 28g:
| Strain | Potency | 28g |
|---|---|---|
| Ecuadorian | Medium, beginner friendly | $58 |
| Daddy Long Legs | Low–medium | $62 |
| Mazatapec | Low–medium | $65 |
| Golden Teacher | Medium, consistent | $75 |
| Ghost | High | $79 |
| Texas Penis Envy | Extreme, not for beginners | $75 |
Not sure which strain you want? The Assorted 14G is $49. Raw strains are also mix and match, so buying 4 of any combination takes 25% off.
Making Your Own Mushroom Gummies
If you like the gummy format, making your own is the only way to know exactly what’s in each piece.
- Weigh first. Weigh the dried mushrooms before you grind them, and write down the total.
- Grind fine. Coarse pieces sink to the bottom of the mould and throw off the dose.
- Keep the heat low. Stir the powder into the gelatin after it’s off the boil, not while it’s boiling.
- Stir constantly while you pour. This keeps the powder spread evenly across the mould.
- Do the math. Divide the total grams by the number of gummies so you know the dose in each one, and label the container.
Store them airtight in the fridge, away from anything anyone else might eat. For more on preparation, see how to prepare magic mushrooms. The dosage terminology guide covers what “micro,” “average” and “hero” mean.
FAQ
Does SuperFunGuy sell magic mushroom gummies?
No. We sell microdose capsules and dried mushrooms, where the dose is either fixed or yours to weigh. The gummy bears in our edibles section are THC, not mushrooms.
Are amanita gummies the same as magic mushroom gummies?
No. Amanita muscaria contains muscimol, not psilocybin. It’s a different mushroom with different effects, and it isn’t a substitute.
Are gummies stronger than dried mushrooms?
Not by themselves. The strength depends on how much mushroom went into each one. Gummies are just harder to verify.
What’s the cheapest option?
Dried mushrooms. Ecuadorian is $58 for 28g, which works out to $2.07 a gram.
